Part of a Union Pacific train derailed at about 3:30 p.m. Friday in Braggs, a railroad official said.
Aaron Hunt, UP spokesman, said 12 cars were off the tracks at a location between David and KN roads.
There were no injuries, and the derailment was not blocking train traffic or motorists.
Hunt said four loaded coal cars were on their sides and some coal was spilled. A UP crew was on site, and others were due to arrive and help with the cleanup.
The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
