CCOM Medical Group is holding a celebration and appreciation event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at its 350 S. 40th St. location. Everyone is invited.
The patient appreciation day is the idea of Dr. Jackson Wong-Sick-Hong, a cardiologist at CCOM, according to a media release. A little more than six years ago he said to his colleagues that he thought it strange there is a National Doctors Day (March 30) and a National Nurses Day (May 6), but there is no “Patients Day.” He wanted to change that and took responsibility for organizing such a day for the patients of CCOM. The celebration this year is the sixth such day at CCOM. It hasn’t caught on nationally, yet, but Dr. Wong-Sick-Hong says he is still hopeful.
The event features several educational sessions to assist with healthcare concerns. There are presentations and opportunities for questions from patients, family members, and other guests.
The Red Cross will also be on hand to conduct a blood drive to help build our community blood supply just prior to the holiday season.
Healthy snacks, drinks, and door prizes also await participants.
