A Muskogee man involved in a fatal crash in Cherokee County in November has been charged with negligent homicide, a misdemeanor.
William Nichols, 78, was charged Thursday afternoon in connection with a Nov. 7 crash that killed Robert E. Catcher, 48.
Cherokee Nation Emergency Medical Services personnel pronounced Catcher dead at the scene.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol report states Nichols failed to yield from a private drive, and his 1991 Ford Ranger pickup hit the 2005 Yamaha motorcycle Catcher was driving. Catcher was thrown nearly 150 feet from the point of impact.
Nichols, who was not injured in the crash, will be formally arraigned later, and his next court appearance will be set at that time.
Negligent homicide is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail for up to a year and/or a fine of $100 to $1,000.
