The Nurse of the Day program is sponsored by the Oklahoma Nurses Association, a professional organization for registered nurses. Student nurses volunteered their services at the capitol’s first aid station, which serves legislators, staff and visitors. Denton served with Registered Nurse Catherine White.
Denton was introduced to members of the legislature by Sen. Earl Garrison and Rep. Jerry McPeak. Denton had served six years as a page at the capitol.
“It is exciting to discuss concerns with the legislators because the discussions can make a difference in the outcome of legislation,” Denton said.
