I have written a few letters to the editor concerning the superintendent and bond elections during the past few years.
However, I did not write the letter published Nov. 18 with my name. I immediately contacted the new superintendent and the Phoenix and informed them as such.
I informed the new superintendent, of whom I have the most trust, that the reasons the past bond elections had failed is because the voters did not trust the former superintendent.
Also the bonds were not the things Checotah High School needed the most. We do need a new gym, but look at CHS’s record in the turnover of coaches and success in both girls and boys basketball the last few years.
What we need the most are classrooms, which I supported in the last bond election, and a new high school and cafeteria. It’s the same high school that my dad went to and graduated from in 1937.
Do the right thing this time around and vote yes to a new high school, which happens to include an auditorium/gym.
