I am happy the the Oklahoma Department of Transportation is asking for public comments regarding transportation issues. Corporations rule (oil, auto), but we are given some chances of protecting our democracy by participation.
Oklahoma's officials never talk of global warming. ODOT should do its part to work on this grave problem. In that light please develop trains for public transportation. We already own the land and right of way. Start with regular trains. Then go to high speed (unless the feds convert submarine building to high-speed trains). Then the cost would go down.
Please ask them to do this. We need affordable transportation. I am alarmed that you are tearing up the railroad yard around Union Station in Oklahoma City at a time like this.
I do not think the 10-lane monstrosity needs to be built. Please move it when you consider the planetary prospective.
Also our climatologist issued a scientific report almost two years ago that you should have memorized.
We are desperate for bike lanes. I do not like the rough edges you are putting on the edges of roads, even those with low traffic. There are a lot of overweight kids who should ride bikes to school. They could get PE credit for doing this.
Please try to stop parents from picking up their kids from school. They do not have a clue that while they idle their cars they are producing CO2.
Please conduct an information program, better yet fine them and get some revenue.
Change the name from ODOT to GODOT, Green Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Stop cutting all that grass with gas guzzling, CO2 producing tractors. Stop pesticide use. Plant edible berry bushes. Plan for harder times ahead!
