I was appalled on Tuesday, the first day of Angel Tree applications, to find that Muskogee’s finest were packed in five deep to award parking tickets.
I was not one of the unlucky ones, and I understand that citizens may have been parked illegally or maybe even dangerously, but to go in there without giving the people any warning I think was a little brash.
The demand for assistance is higher than ever this year. The line for the Angel Tree was almost completely around the building. Do they really think that these hardworking mothers and fathers who can’t even afford to buy Christmas for their own children, can afford to pay tickets?
I know that the police were technically doing their “job,” but I’m sure that our taxpaying dollars could have been put to better use.
