Caught with his pants down by the news of his winning the Nobel Peace Prize, the best President Barck Obama could do was eat humble pie.
“To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures who have been honored by this prize,” the president said.
He needs to adopt the rule of the late president of the University of Oklahoma, Dr. George Cross.
Informed that he had been selected for the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Cross confessed, “I knew I did not belong in the Hall of Fame. A Hall of Good Fortune, perhaps, but not a Hall of Fame.”
However, Cross decided to accept the honor because “it has not been uncommon for me to receive things I did not deserve.”
He added, “Mrs. Cross is perhaps the best example of this. My friends will think of others.”
Ditto Obama with the first lady, Michelle.
