Remember the song “Bless the Beasts and the Children?” The words that follow are “for in this world they have no voice, no choice. Give them shelter from the storm, and keep them safe.” This song was sung by the Carpenters.
I do believe there are anti-cruelty laws here in Oklahoma, and that dogs should have water, food and shelter. I have read that “any person who deprives an animal of food, drink, or shelter shall be guilty of a felony and can be fined up to $500, and or imprisoned in the county jail.” This is a quote from the Oklahoma Cruelty to Animals Statutes. If you see a dog with no shelter, then report it to the animal shelter in Muskogee. It is heart-breaking to see how many dogs are tied up with no way to run free as the wind in a fenced yard. Can you imagine being tied up your entire lifetime? Please spay and neuter your pets.
Muskogee is a wonderful town. Let’s see if we can help make it better for dogs, and cats and all of God’s creatures great and small.
