THANK YOUS, 03.20.10

THE OKAY AREA SENIOR Citizens Center wants to say thank you for everything this community has done for our organization.

We held a fundraiser on March 5, selling and delivering Indian Tacos. We had live music that night and a silent auction. The Mountain Grove Blue Grass Band and friends donated their time and talents and the place was packed.

Many small businesses in Wagoner, Ft. Gibson, Muskogee and Okay donated gifts for our auction and door prizes. During lunch many businesses ordered tacos and Oklahoma Healthcare Solutions delivered them to the Wagoner and Muskogee Area.

We appreciate the Phoenix for their articles and listening to our needs. We want to especially thank the people of the surrounding area who came by and donated money, food and time. Our volunteer workers are priceless.

We want to let everyone know that the total amount raised is $2,398.25 and we will receive matching funds from the Woodmen of the World for another $1,500.

We are here to serve our community and endeavor to keep our services free to our seniors but survive on donations. Thank you so much.

WE ARE OVERWHELMED by the outpouring of love and support from the media, former and present players, coaches, students, teachers, administrators, and friends.

Thanks to all of you for the visits, cards, comments on Facebook, e-mails, food, and most of all, prayers.

A special thanks to Kenton and Mike for the beautiful tributes to Don in the Phoenix.

YESTERDAY, AFTER making a purchase at K-Mart, I left my wallet on the counter. I returned to the store upon realizing the loss about a half-hour later. My wallet was returned intact. I’d hate to think what it would take to replace my driver’s license, medical cards, credit cards, etc.

I would like to publicly thank the honest employees of the K-Mart store.

THE FAMILY OF CALIF Skilar Fonville expresses their heartfelt thanks for the many acts of kindness shown upon his death. Thanks to those of you who came by to offer kind words, brought food, offered prayers, contributed to the Mercy Fund at the First Baptist Church, sent flowers, or just came by to offer comfort and support.

Thanks especially to Lance Sawyer, pastor of the First Baptist Church and to the youth minister, Eric Fletcher; Linda Gibson and Marcy Hayes for the guitar music and the singing; friends in the First Ladies Class who offered so much support; and the staff of Keith Biglow and the pallbearers.

May the Lord bless each and every one of you.
