THE PEOPLE SPEAK – Don’t take vote for granted

It isn’t trite to say that we, the citizens of America, stand at the historic crossroads of our country’s future. The Nov. 6 general election will be here before we know it. It isn’t a matter of voting “either/or” Republican, Democrat, Independent, or some other political persuasion on the ballot.

True, our system operates by the two-party process with much discussion and debate as to allowing a third party choice. It goes much deeper than that. Each eligible voter chooses the candidate he or she thinks will best serve the people. The very act of marking a ballot comes from a fundamental belief in ourselves, our core values. We know what the issues are; we would hope that some of the politicians’ campaigns try to reflect the same. We cannot and should not take the privilege to exercise the right to vote for granted, for it we do, there are those who would take our feelings and emotions and make a mockery of our humanity.
