THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Nation should show respect for president

— It is very difficult to continue reading and listening to critics of our nation’s president. There are so many upset and angry that he was elected to a second term in the White House. The United States has spoken and decided that he deserves a second term in office. He has earned a right to continue what he has started. The majority voted and the Electoral College did what it was designed to do. Why is it so difficult for people to get behind and support him? Only you as an individual can explain your reason. I think most people know why.

We are a nation that is viewed by many others as leaders. Most of them wonder why the Republican party and its cronies are carrying on the way they are. There are problems within the party that they need to fix themselves. President Obama did not cause this. They did it to themselves. Now they are scurrying like a pack of rabid dogs to repair what’s wrong. This energy should be directed in pulling our country together.

I was debating about writing an opinion as to why he shouldn’t have ran this last election, but our media, newspaper, television network commentators and others have shown all of the reasons why I felt the way I did. He gets no respect from many. There are those that refuse to refer to him as president, they would rather say “Mr. Obama.” This has the same effect that my grandfather had when he was refereed to as “boy” at the age of 70. This gentleman has earned his title and should be respected for it.

We need to keep him and his family in prayer. The good Lord will see him through all of this. I am praying that we as a nation will also.
