THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Writer must believe Obama born in Kenya

— Apparently, Senator Coburn is a traitor, at least according to Herb Pope (“Coburn is traitor to Constitution”, 11/8).  And not just any traitor, but a dishonorable one as well. What heinous crime could Coburn have committed to deserve such a label?

According to Pope, Coburn didn’t contact Sheriff Arpaio to follow up on a promise he made to a supporter at a town hall. However, Coburn’s staff did contact Arpaio’s staff in order to get information on Arpaio’s investigation into Obama’s birth certificate. In addition, Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona (a Republican) has dismissed Arpaio’s investigation and accepted the validity of Obama’s birth certificate.

I guess Pope feels that Coburn ‘helped’ Obama get re-elected by not “boning up” on Arpaio’s investigation. Even though the governor of Arpaio’s state herself has disavowed said investigation, Pope seems to be absolutely convinced that there’s something to Arpaio’s investigation.

I wonder if he was just as convinced that Obama was born in Kenya, before that was thoroughly debunked?
