I can’t believe we the taxpayers are paying for a wrought-iron fence to be put around Parkview (Oklahoma School for the Blind). Who decided this anyway?
All we hear about is how short of money the state Education Department (teachers furnishing their own supplies) and every other agency is at this time.
This school has existed for over 60 years, and because one young child wanders off (Where were the people who were suppose to be watching her, and what happened to them?) a fence is being built.
Of course, everyone going in or out of the parking lot, the schoolchildren who are allowed off campus and the vendors will need to be able to get in and out of the closed electronic gates. How will this be accomplished?
I wonder how long it will be before these are left open.
What a complete waste of taxpayers’ money.

(Editor’s note: Parkview, which is under the state Department of Rehabilitation Services, reports the fence cost about $390,000. Officials said the fence became a safety issue after property was reported missing and the school grounds experienced some break-ins.)
