This letter is written in reply to any who suggest Muskogee — Warrior City. Do not go there please. The name “Warrior” belongs to all Native Americans. It is also culturally and historically associated with Bacone College and after 124 years stands on its own. After the mistreatment endured by all the Native Americans (red man) over the last 521 years, it is disrespectful to claim city credit by misusing a beloved reference from a lost past.
The city of Muskogee was called the “Queen City of the Southwest,” by Dub West in his 1972 Centennial Edition. This book alone has many facts, names, incidents that suggest names to be considered, again.
The following is a list of names based on Early Days.
