The election is over, and we have to live with the things that were accomplished by the Republicans. The Democrats had proposed a raise of the minimum wage, but it was blocked by the Republicans. The Republicans blocked the “Buffet rule,” would have raised the taxes on the extremely wealthy. The Republicans blocked the Disclose Act of 2012, which would have let us know who as funding those attack ads that flooded the airwaves. They also hindered the progress of employment, women’s equality, and discrimination.
We also have a new representative in Mullin, who will take over this district. As a solid Republican, I expect that he will vote along with the current Republican Party on all the things that are up for negotiation. That means we here in the 2nd District have lost our Democratic representation.
There is some discussion in Washington on how to keep the country off the cliff’s edge. I have little faith that the Republicans will do what it really takes to solve the problems.
At one time, before the current Republicans came out of the woodwork, we could have relied on them doing what was right to solve the problems, but these new “neocons” are so committed to the extremely wealthy that they will do nothing to help, only hinder.
In this election it appeared that there were so many who ignored the fact that it takes the average family 47 years to makes as much money as these “hedge-fund-honchos” make in one hour. In short, the super rich are spending millions to sell their economic fabrications to hide the facts that explain how they are running away with the nation’s wealth.
