I feel that our community should be in mourning for the loss of the Emergency Room Services of the Muskogee Community Hospital.
We all remember how the Muskogee Regional Emergency Room treated and still treats its emergency patients, with or without competition. But for a while, at least, we citizens had a choice of two emergency rooms.
When I had a stroke last October and my husband was rushing me to the hospital, as scary as it was; just knowing that I was going to the Muskogee Community Emergency Room made me feel more secure. They didn’t let me down.
My son had an appendicitis attack and needed emergency surgery almost two years ago. He arrived at Muskogee Community at 3:30 p.m. and was diagnosed and out of surgery by 10:30 p.m. Not only were the Emergency Room personnel great to him and me, the staff on the floor couldn’t have been better to him.
Hats off to the group of doctors who built Muskogee Community. I’m sure I’m not the only person worried about losing this wonderful addition to our area.
May I suggest to the Muskogee Phoenix that you do a little undercover reporting by making random visits to the Muskogee Regional Emergency Room and just ask the patients how long they have been waiting for care.
