THE PEOPLE SPEAK – Allegations against Pevehouse are wrong

A few weeks ago Mark Breedlove’s father came to my door campaigning and began name calling and indicated to me Ronnie Pevehouse had cost the county $300,000. Ronnie Pevehouse did not cost the county $300,000.

The truth of the matter, all county employees filled out employment applications. Ronnie had consulted with Muskogee County district attorney at that time and was assured he had the right to choose the employees he wanted to work for him. I’m sure other businesses have this same policy, if you don’t get hired, do you sue?

Muskogee County is forced to have insurance. The county insurance paid $225,000 and the remaining $75,000 came for three separate county accounts, set aside if necessary for lawsuit settlements.

The county was not sued for wrongful termination, these people sought out an attorney specializing in similar lawsuits claiming their first amendment right had been violated. Mark Breeedlove was fired from the county in 1983, not in 2005. To verify this information contact the county clerk.

While Pevehouse was county commissioner, he and his employees made improvements throughout the entire district, giving the taxpayers of Muskogee County what they deserve. We know it can be done, as it was from 2005 through 2008.

I’ve known Ronnie Pevehouse for over 40 years, he is a fair and honest man, I respect his decisions. I’m proud to call him my friend.
