Every once in a while you run across a government office that actually works pretty well. Such is the case with our County Clerk and County Sheriff. Dianna Cope has done an outstanding job since being appointed County Clerk. She has worked in the Clerk’s office for 29 years with an excellent record of public service. Since taking over as County Clerk she has supervised the digitalizing of land records and microfilm making access for citizens quicker, easier, and more accurate. Dianna is an example of what the term public service really means.
The same can be said for our county sheriff, Charles Pearson. Sheriff Pearson has done a great job and deserves to be reelected. He has a record of strong county law enforcement and is always looking for ways to improve the Sheriff’s office.
In this day and age when most people serving in government are most concerned with how to stay in office it is refreshing to have a couple of civic minded officials who are more interested in serving the public than their own agendas.
On June 26th, I will be voting for Dianna Cope and Charles Pearson in accordance with the old Navy adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”
