NSU inks Sequoyah duo

— Northeastern State baseball coach Travis Janssen announced the signing of five student-athletes to national letters of intent during the early signing period, including two from Sequoyah High School.

Ryan Helsley, a pitcher and third baseman, and Karter Woodruff, an outfielder/first baseman, have committed themselves to play for the RiverHawks beginning in the 2014 season.

Helsley is a three-sport athlete for the Indians and was named the 2011 Offensive Player of the Year for the baseball team. Woodruff posted a .436 batting average in 2011 while hitting 10 home runs and driving in 34 runs.
