CLASS 2A AREA IV — Resilient wasn’t resilient enough. No. 6 Oktaha (22-5) lost 60-52 in overtime to Talihina (18-10) in a foul-plagued game — at least on the Tigers’ side as they were whistled for 30 fouls to Talihina’s eight. Christian McIntosh, Caleb Shoemake and Dustin Leach all fouled out.
Blake Pittman had 18 points. Devon Fry’s 3-pointer at the buzzer of regulation sent the game into overtime. The Tigers will face Rattan at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wilburton.
CLASS 3A AREA I — At Okmulgee, Wes Davis’ 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Haskell a 64-62 consolation semifinal win, moving the Haymakers (11-14) into Monday’s 1:30 p.m. final against Beggs at Okmulgee. Alex Wheeland led Haskell with 20 points, Michael Love had 19 and Davis had 14.
CLASS 3A AREA III — Vian’s season came to an end with two free-throw line in the final seconds, losing 50-49 to Heavener at the Muskogee Civic Center. The Wolverines (8-13) were led by Eric Casey with 20 points and Shane Ross with 16.
In the Area regional at Adair, Keys’ run of three consecutive regional championships ended Saturday in a 59-35 loss to Sperry. Keys will now drop to a 3 p.m. consolation bracket on Thursday at Fort Gibson.
CLASS 2A AREA IV — Oktaha overcame a slow start to beat host Talihina 48-39 to capture the Class 2A Area IV regional championship.
Oktaha found themselves down 15-10 after the first eight minutes but rallied with a 21-point outburst in the second quarter to grab a 31-22 advantage heading into the locker room. The Lady Tigers were outscored by two points in the third period, 11-9, but got the two points back in the final quarter with an 8-6 advantage.
Jaylie Roper led the way for Oktaha with 20 points while Makayla Baldridge poured in 13 points.
“They both did a solid job,” Oktaha coach Chester Pittman said. “One night it might be Jaylie and another night in might be Makayla. Most of the time, both are on and tonight was one of those nights.”
The Lady Tigers (26-1) will play Colbert in Wilburton at 6:30 p.m. in the Area IV championship on Friday.
CLASS 3A AREA I — At Okmulgee, Haskell fell behind 15-4, rallied to within 28-22 but Lincoln Christian went on a 21-12 run to end the quarter and went on to a 63-50 win to end the Lady Haymakers’ season.
For Haskell (10-15), Sherrell McHenry had 14 points and 10 rebounds — her 14th double-double this season — and Tashay Love had 12.
CLASS 3A AREA III — Riding a full-court press, Vian beat Heavener 63-30 to move into a 1 p.m. consolation final at Muskogee Civic Center against Newkirk. Vian (13-8) was led by Joehanna Morris with 14, Jennifer Hunter with 13 and Nese Walters with 10.
CLASS 3A AREA III —At Adair and trailing 14-11 after one quarter, Eufaula was outscored 24-10 in the second quarter, scoring just three field goals. The hole was too much to dig from as the Lady Ironheads lost 57-37 to Adair in the regional title game. Eufaula’s Alyssa Banks, who led her team with 15 points, fouled out the start of the fourth quarter. Janet Hill had 12 for the Lady Ironheads, who next play the winner of Monday’s contest between Newkirk and Vian at Fort Gibson at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Also at Adair, Sydni Rainbolt and Mylee Hewitt both had 11 points, but Keys came up short in a 51-43, season-ending loss to Salina on Saturday afternoon. Keys fell victim to poor shooting on a day when it went 16 of 54 from the floor. The Lady Cougars end their season at 12-11, while Salina advances to next week’s area tournament in Fort Gibson.
