MHS gets Westmoore in state softball

As expected, Muskogee’s first-ever trip to the state fastpitch softball tournament will come as the lowest seed in the eight-team field.

Muskogee, which captured a regional championship last week over Putnam City North, will play its longtime slowpitch nemesis Westmoore in the first round at Oklahoma City. Westmoore moved past Broken Arrow in the last Okrankings.com poll with a late-season win over BA and will play Muskogee at noon on Thursday at ASA Hall of Fame Complex, Field 2. The winner gets the Choctaw-Bartlesville winner at 6 p.m. and the loser drops into a 4 p.m. elimination game that day.

Westmoore and Muskogee have met in three state slowpitch championships in this decade. In 2000, Muskogee won state in 2000 slowpitch against them and then dropped the next two finals contests, including a 13-inning loss in 2001.
