STILLWATER — Trey’ Vonne Barr’e scored on three long touchdown runs in a dominant first half and Jenks beat Norman North 55-20 Friday night to win its 13th state championship in Class 6A.
Barr’e had 270 yards rushing by halftime after the Trojans scored 35 points in the second quarter to take a 41-7 lead. Peyton Gavras threw a pair of second-half touchdown passes, but Norman North was unable to keep Jenks from winning the 17th straight 6A title for a Tulsa-area team.
Either Jenks or crosstown rival Union has won the 6A crown each of the past 17 years. Union was the champion the past four years but lost to the Trojans in the semifinals.
Barr’e was the star in the championship game, with touchdown runs of 35, 53 and 52 yards. He also had an 88-yard run to set up another score.
