MHS booster club meeting tonight

Muskogee Quarterback Club meets today at 6 p.m. in the Indian Bowl hospitality room to complete installation of new officers. Driver’s license is required for officers for needed documentation. Contact Melissa O’Dell at (918) 869-9285 for more information.



Hilldale holding banquet Saturday

Hilldale High School’s football banquet will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the school’s Event Center. The cost is $10 at the door.

The Hornets, coached by Chad Kirkhart, had their best season in school history, finishing with a 11-2 record after losing in the Class 3A quarterfinals to eventual state champion Blanchard.



OK sports hall class named

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2013 was revealed at the Jim Thorpe Museum during the Jim Thorpe Association’s Leadership luncheon.

The class is made up of seven individuals who have contributed to the sports heritage of Oklahoma in a variation of ways.

They are former University of Oklahoma wrester Wayne Baughman; chairman of the Oklahoma City Thunder Clay Bennett; olympic gold medalist Nadia Comaneci; Oklahoma City University football standout LeRoy “Ace” Gutowsky; former Sooner quarterback Jimmy Harris; University of Kansas head basketball coach Bill Self Jr. and Oklahoma State two-sport All American John Henry Ward.  Gutowsky, Harris and Ward will be inducted posthumously.

The induction ceremonies will be held on Aug. 5 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.



OU women fall to Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – Hallie Christofferson scored 24 points and Nikki Moody had 20 points and 13 assists Tuesday night to help No. 24 Iowa State beat No. 16 Oklahoma 82-61.

The Cyclones (13-2, 4-1) snapped Oklahoma’s six-game winning streak and pulled even with the Sooners for second place in the Big 12, a half-game behind No. 1 Baylor.

Nicole Blaskowsky added 17 points for Iowa State, making five 3-pointers.

Sharane Campbell led the Sooners (14-3, 4-1) with 19 points. Aaryn Ellenberg scored 16 points and Morgan Hook scored 11 for Oklahoma.
