What’s New at the “Q”? 02.20.13

— We are still getting our “geek: on at Q. B. Boydstun.  We are looking for volunteers to have their picture put on a “What do you geek?” poster.

We still have yard signs for anyone interested in putting a sign in your yard.  All of these activities are to raise awareness of the library.

Surprisingly, there are people in Fort Gibson who do not realize that we have a public library.

With the great school system in Fort Gibson, some may not even see the need.  That’s why we are working diligently to raise awareness.

AARP Volunteers are doing taxes at the library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays.  They will be here up to April 15.   The library has some of the forms for federal tax returns.  Forms that we do not have yet are available on www.IRS.gov.

We have started Lego Club again rom 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays.  Right now we are still just building with the Legos, but I am looking for other activities to add to the club.  If you haven’t been to Lego Club lately, remember to come next Tuesday.

We recently moved our story time to 10 a.m. Thursdays and more parents and their children are attending.  If you know someone who has a baby or toddler from birth to age 4, tell them about story time.

We have stories, we sing, we dance and occasionally we have parties like the one we had on Valentine’s Day.

Tomorrow is the third Thursday of the month and Judy has a craft program after school at 4 p.m. Judy always finds fun crafts for the kids to do.

On Feb. 28 we will have “Stories from History” with Omar Reed from the Fort Museum.

Omar will be dressed in period dress.  The program will be held at 4 p.m. and is for all ages.

We have started having brown bag lunch activities at the library occasionally.  Our next brown bag lunch activity is scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. March 7.  Kim Phillips will do a presentation on decorating for Easter.

More programs are in the works, so watch for more information. There’s always something new at the “Q”!

For more information, visit the Q.B. Boydstun Library at 201 E. South Ave., call (918) 478-3587 or see the library’s website at http://www.eodls.lib.ok.us/ft_gibson.html.

Q.B. Boydstun Library hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
