Cade Roberts, a student at The University of Oklahoma and 2008 graduate of Fort Gibson High School, has been selected as a member of the Arabic Flagship Scholar Program at OU.
The program offers both a summer and an academic year program for students in Alexandria, Egypt.
Roberts is spending nine weeks this summer at the University of Alexandria studying Modern Standard and Colloquial Egyptian Arabic, experiencing cultural excursions and language practice with peer tutors.
The undergraduate program is designed for learners of Arabic who seek to achieve superior language proficiency while pursuing degrees in the academic major of their choice.
It offers an innovative five-year curriculum in Arabic language designed to produce graduates with dual strength in Arabic language proficiency and their chosen career fields.
Roberts is the son of Tom and Deanna Roberts and is majoring in International Security Studies at OU.
