Title I committee meets Monday
The Fort Gibson Intermediate Elementary Title I committee meeting will meet at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday in the conference room at Intermediate Elementary.
The committee will be reviewing the 2009-10 Title I program; set dates for the 2010-11 compact meeting and Fall Title I committee meeting; review/update Title I CLEP plan for 2010-11; and discuss suggestions for parent communication and involvement.
High school to hold blood drive
Fort Gibson High School will hold an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 24 in the old gym.
The event is part of the Oklahoma High School Blood Drive Challenge, which offers scholarships starting at $1,000 for the school collecting the most blood. The second-place school receives $750 and the third-place $500.
Students 17 and older may donate blood. Teachers and others from the community may also donate.
In preparation, donors need to increase their water intake starting a few days before donating and eat a good breakfast on the day of donation.
Blood donors must be in good health. Height and weight requirements apply to all donors 17-19 years of age. The Red Cross reminds all those coming to donate to bring a photo ID.
Dentist closes for mission trip
The office of Dr. Frank Evans will be closed until Monday while Evans is on a health care mission trip to Haiti.
Office staff will be in periodically to return messages, schedule appointments and refer emergencies.
