Son of local couple receives award

Scott D. Foster, a senior in the Master of Divinity program at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, received the Presbyterian Outstanding Student Award at the seminary's awards banquet May 16.

Foster, 48, is interning at First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater. He received a monetary gift to honor his achievement. This award is sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Scott, Kansas.

On June 5, Foster was accepted as a candidate for ordination to the ministry by the Presbytery of Cimarron. Upon receiving his Master of Divinity degree, Foster will be prepared for ordination.

Cimarron Presbytery is a body of 15 congregations in northern and western Oklahoma. They hold membership in The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Foster and his wife Becky live in Oklahoma City. They have a son, Blake, and a daughter, Emily.

Foster is the son of Don and Paula Foster of Fort Gibson.

Phillips Theological Seminary began classes in 1907 in Enid. It was then known as The College of the Bible of Oklahoma Christian University. The seminary has been in Tulsa for 10 years.
