Pickup driven into river

— Muskogee Police Officer C.B. Abel searches for a pickup in the Arkansas River on Monday afternoon. Officer Jody Standridge said Patti Simmerman, who was eastbound on U.S. 62, saw the green Dodge pickup enter the river about 3 p.m. at Three Forks Harbor. By the time Simmerman made it to the ramp, the truck was submerging, Standridge said. Simmerman dived into the water and rescued the woman who was driving the pickup and her dog. The woman, who was unidentified, was taken to a hospital. Divers searched for the pickup for more than an hour. Lt. Devin Beach said it was about 45 feet into the river and about 40 feet deep.
