The Muskogee Ministerial Alliance will sponsor a Martin Luther King program at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The theme, “Not by Color, but by Character,” is taken from a King speech. The theme seemed fitting because Muskogee is the home of Oklahoma’s first National High School of Character, a spokeswoman said.
Speakers for the program are Dewayne Pemberton, principal of Muskogee High School, and Edwin Strickland, principal of Alice Robertson Junior High. The Muskogee High School choir will perform.
The public is invited.
The Muskogee Ministerial Alliance exists to enhance unity and improve communication among the pastors and churches in Muskogee and to provide a spiritual covering for the city of Muskogee. The Alliance sponsors the Martin Luther King program each year, with the hope of providing an opportunity for the community to come together for fellowship and worship, according to a media release.
