Dr. Jason Dovel, an assistant professor of music at Northeastern State University, will present a solo recital at 7 p.m. Monday in the NSU Center for the Performing Arts. He will play six pieces on five instruments, including piccolo, trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn. He will be accompanied by Dr. Ronald Chioldi, a professor of music at NSU, and assisted by James Masters, an NSU alumnus and veteran of the Air Force Band.
Dovel’s selections will be “Sonata for Trumpet” by Giuseppe Torelli, “Centennial Horizon” by Kevin McKee, “Prelude and Ballade” by Guillaume Balay, “Vocalise” by Frederick Beck, “Prayer and Praise” by Eric Ewazen and “Concertino for Two Cornets” by Fernand Andrieu.
The concert is free.
