St. Joseph School Endowment Trust to hold gala Friday

— St. Joseph School Endowment Trust will celebrate the fourth annual “Continue the Legacy” Gala at 6 p.m. Friday with a mass of Thanksgiving in the parish church, followed by a reception and dinner in the parish hall.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the building of St. Joseph Church in 1992, invited guest Father Alex Kennedy, who served as Associate Pastor of St. Joseph Church from 1990-95, will preside at the mass and reflect on how the building of the new Church pulled together Muskogee’s Catholics and consolidated support for Catholic education.

Parishioners also will offer reflections from each of Muskogee’s previous parishes: Church of the Assumption, Sacred Heart and Saint Augustine. Catholic parishioners will be honored for steadfastly supporting Catholic education in Muskogee since 1891. Parish support is crucial to St. Joseph School and provides nearly 20 percent of its annual budget.

St. Joseph School is a fully state accredited school with students from pre-kidnergarten through eighth grade, which welcomes students of all faiths.

Its mission is to “provide academic excellence in a safe Catholic Christian environment and to follow in Jesus’ footsteps to create a better world.” The school has 103 students.

St. Joseph School Endowment Trust was established in the 1970s to provide a stable source of additional funding for St. Joseph School.

Tickets for this year’s Gala are $50 each and available through St. Joseph School office at (918) 683-1291.
