Tim and Debbie Greener home
Tim and Debbie Greener will celebrate their fifth anniversary right after Thanksgiving in the home they love.
With the help of an architect they designed and built their dream home at 1313 Out of Bounds Drive, in the Hilldale area. Tim did all the crown and trim work himself.
“We love having people over and we want them to feel welcomed and loved,” Debbie said.
They will be welcoming many guests from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Home Tour.
Debbie likes scrapbooking and has a small room where she goes to relax. She and Tim are University of Oklahoma fans and in this room a small Christmas tree is decorated with Sooner ornaments. Another unusual tree represents Tim’s love of hunting and outdoor sports. Shotgun shell lights highlight the tree.
“The Girly Room” is the way Debbie refers to the guest room. Framed photos and birth announcements of her nieces are hung by pink ribbons and bows, and a quilt stand holds a hand- made quilt given to her by a friend.
When Debbie’s brother, his wife and children come to visit, they have privacy in the bonus room upstairs, which has a private bath. This room has a handmade crib that was given to Debbie and Tim in hopes that they would have a baby. Debbie said so far it is used by her nieces.
In the red bedroom, Debbie displays a bed made for her by her father, and her first attempt at refinishing an antique dresser. One wall of the adjacent guest bathroom was painted in large diamond shapes by Raylene Nichols.
A tree that stays up year-round is in the sun room. Debbie calls it the wedding tree. It is hung with ornaments they received at their wedding and on anniversaries. The tree is topped by an ornament from Disney World where they spent their honeymoon.
A large stuffed goose stands guard on the hearth of the stone fireplace where a gas log gives off realistic flames. A nativity set decorates a coffee table, and ornaments carved from wood by Tim hang.
Debbie is an occupational therapist at the VA Medical Center and Tim is an MRI technologist at Muskogee Regional Medical Center.
