Former OU and Colts football player along with evangelist to speak in Fort Gibson

First Baptist Church on East Hickory in Fort Gibson has teamed up with Bill Britt, founder of Compel Outreach International, and Vince Carter, all-American center for the University of Oklahoma and former National Football League Indianapolis Colts, for a revival at 10:50 a.m. today and 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Britt is one of the most sought after speakers for revivals and evangelism conferences in the country, said Shawna Yates, a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson.

“His powerful message and his passion for winning people to Jesus are refreshing and inspiring,” she said. “His genuine love and remarkable integrity are true gifts from God.”

Carter used his physical abilities on the football field, but today he is connecting with people on a personal level, giving encouragement and spreading the Gospel as a Christian rapper, according to a media release. His inspiration comes from personal life experiences and what he has learned from the scriptures.

A special youth night is scheduled for Wednesday starting with a taco dinner at 5:30 p.m., music with Carter and special message from Britt at 7 p.m. Pastor Danny Gandara encourages everyone to attend.

“I am concerned about the carelessness of sinners, the coldness of the saints, and the compromise of society,” Britt said.

“I am concerned about the country clubs we have across this country with steeples on them that we call churches.”
