Voice recital set for Sunday


Sopranos Lizzie DePriest and Hannah Roberts will present a voice recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary of Wesley United Methodist Church, 313 E. Peak Blvd.

They will be accompanied by Michael Dunn. Selections by Giovanni Paisiello, John Leavitt, Franz Schubert, Lucy Simon, Maurice Besly, Alessandro Scarlatti, Richard Strauss and Jason Robert Brown will be performed, as well as traditional folk songs from Wales, Ireland and the Catalan region of Spain. The recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

DePriest, the daughter of Darryl and Hope DePriest, is a freshman at Hilldale High School. She is a member of select choir and band. She studied dance for one year and guitar for three years, and is in her first year of voice and piano studies with Dunn. She is a four-year member of Eastern District Honor Choir, and played the Little Redheaded Girl in Hilldale’s production of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” last spring. She attends First Assembly of God Church in Muskogee, where she is involved in youth group, volunteers in the children’s ministry and participated in the fine arts competition for two years.

Roberts, a freshman at Hilldale High School, is the daughter of Tommy and Sheila Roberts. She is active in select choir, Drama Club, band and color guard. Roberts has studied gymnastics and violin, and is in her first year of voice studies with Dunn. Hannah is a four-year member of Eastern District Honor Choir, and has performed in Hilldale productions of “Carnival,” “Annie, Get Your Gun,” “Back to the 80’s” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
