The Porum Chamber of Commerce is hosting a cruise night and burn out on from 5 to 10 p.m. today.
On Oct. 31, the town will sponsor a Halloween contest on Main Street in front of the city hall. The contest will be divided into several age categories and times. Ages for the contest are: 0-1 year at 4 p.m., 2 to 3 years at 4:10 p.m., 4 to 6 years at 4:20 p.m., and 7 to 12 years at 4:30 p.m. All winners will be announced at 5 p.m. followed by a group picture. Each winner will receive a treat bag and certificate.
The Christmas parade will be Nov. 28. The theme is “Hot Rod Christmas/50s.”. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by an evening of events. The chamber will be selling hot chocolate and cookies. The children will be allowed to decorate their own Christmas cookie. There will also be a cruise night and burn out from 3 to 10 p.m. The chamber will be giving away prizes away to participants in the parade.
Winners in the float division will receive $75 for first place, $50 for second place, and $25 for third place. There also will be a $10 prize for best bicycle, motorcycle, horse rider and tractor. A trophy will be awarded to best hot rod and people’s choice.
Entry forms can be picked up at the Circle R Store and Porum Elementary School.
