The youth handbell choir of the First Baptist Church of Warner starts its summer concert tour today.
The choir has assembled a 50-minute concert of patriotic songs and Christian hymns it will perform at six churches and one retirement center.
The choir has 16 members. They perform using a four-octave set of MalMark handbells — 50 bells total — and a set of MalMark ChoirChimes — 32 chimes total.
The choir is part of the music ministry of the First Baptist Church of Warner, and it plays monthly in the church’s services.
The tour kicks off today when the choir performs in Arlington, Texas, at the Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers baseball game. It is the first of six concerts in Texas next week.
The choir will perform locally at 11 a.m. June 24 at the First Baptist Church of Warner.
The choir is directed by the church’s music director, Paul West.
