Touch a Truck to return in April

69 more days until Touch a Truck

Touch a what? Touch a Truck is the name of the event that allows children of all ages to get up close and familiar with all kinds of vehicles. Trucks are just one of many types of vehicles that will be on display from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Love Hatbox Airfield on April 28.

Touch a Truck is a fundraiser for the Children’s Department of Muskogee Public Library and is sponsored by Muskogee Public Library and the City of Muskogee as well as several community members and businesses. Touch a Truck is the only Azalea Festival activity aimed specifically at kids. The cost for attending Touch a Truck is just $2 per person.

This will be the second annual Touch a Truck event, and it is expected to have more vehicles and opportunities for kids of all ages. Fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, planes, military vehicles and much more are expected to participate in Touch a Truck 2012.

Touch a Truck is a hands-on event that allows children to climb on, sit on, honk horns, and more. Not only will the kids get to hang out on the vehicles, they will have the chance to meet and talk to the community members who drive the vehicles.

One of the new things this year is a display of a piece of sheet metal from one of professional racecar driver Jimmie Johnson’s cars, donated by the Jimmie Johnson Foundation.

Touch a Truck will participate in the Azalea Parade this year. Drawings will be held for kids to ride on the truck. Pick up a color page at the library. Color the picture to be displayed in the library and fill out the entry form for the drawing.
