Lee Ann Womack set to sing tonight
TULSA — Lee Ann Womack is pure country. She grew up in Texas listening to Tammy Wynette and George Jones. The Grammy-winning artist brings hits from her latest album, “Call Me Crazy,” to the Osage Event Center at 7 p.m. today.
Steel Magnolia, winners of Country Music Television’s version of “American Idol,” will open for Womack. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Tickets start at $35 and are available at the Osage Box Office, 699-7667.
Her 2000 single, “I Hope You Dance,” was a major crossover music hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Country Chart. The song was the Country Music Association’s single of the year.
Womack was CMA female vocalist of the year in 2001 and she won a Grammy and a CMA award in 2002 performing the hit collaboration with Willie Nelson, “Mendocino County Line.”
Her fifth studio album aimed at traditional country music, “There’s More Where That Came From,” won Album of the Year award in 2005. Womack’s hit single of that year was “I May Hate Myself in the Morning.”
Womack has had hit singles “Ashes by Now” which was No. 4 on Billboard Country Chart and “Why They Call it Falling” — a Top 15 hit. Her 2004 “Greatest Hits” album included two new songs — “The Wrong Girl” and “Time for Me to Go.”

Steel Magnolia was selected as winners of CMT’s “Can You Duet.” Judges Naomi Judd (The Judds), Big Kenny (Big & Rich) and Scott Borchetta (Big Machine Records) announced the winner on Aug. 8 in Nashville.
The duo consists of 23-year-old Megan Linsey and 28-year-old Josh Jones. Steel Magnolia has a record contract with Big Machine.
