Weekend’s Gore 5K run still taking registrations

— Lacey Sloan, the co-chair of the Gore 5K and Fun Run, announced that registrations for the 5K are nearing 100. Registration will remain open until the race starts Saturday.

There’s a place for all runners, who will be grouped by age, starting at age 8 and younger, and going up through 70 and older. The course has been certified by Glenn’s Road Racing as an official USATF Course, and any records set during the race will stand.

The race will begin at 8 a.m. at Gore Landing and continue along Old River Road in Gore to the turnaround. The Fun Run will start after the main event.

The Gore Chamber of Commerce, which is sponsoring the event, expects runners from all over Oklahoma to participate, it said in a media release. Medals will be awarded to the top three male, and female, runners in each age category.

To get to Gore Landing, from Main Street in Gore, take U.S. 64 (NE Railroad Street) 1.4 miles to S 4450 Road (Old River Road), and then 1/2 mile to the Gore Landing North Entrance.

The Fall Cruz and Burnout will take place that evening along Main Street. Registration for the Burnout will begin around 6 p.m. at the Steve Owens Sports Complex.
