Find a quick fix at Tulsa show

— TULSA — The 27th annual Tulsa House Beautiful Show will be  Sept. 10 to 12 at the QuikTrip Center in Expo Square.

With a variety of quick fixes and “how-to” demonstrations, the show offers new ideas for homeowners interested in enhancing their home or garden.

Local and national exhibitors will give visitors new ideas for their own home improvement projects. Some of this year’s Tulsa House Beautiful Show features include:

• Tulsa Decorator Showdown — The Tulsa Decorator Showdown is a fast-paced competition, in which local radio and TV personalities team up with fans to decorate a room for a good cause. Using only a $250 budget, the four teams will have just a few hours on Sept. 10 to decorate their blank room as creatively as their imaginations will allow. Visitors can become part of the competition by voting for their favorite room throughout the weekend. All proceeds and room decor will benefit the Tulsa Habitat for Humanity.

• Tablescapes — With the holidays right around the corner, the Tablescapes feature will provide inspiration for upcoming parties and gatherings. Table decorating guru Michelle Mershon, of Mershon Catering and Event Design/Party Perfect Linens, will display party planning trends and ideas with her elaborate, theme-centered styles.  • Go Green — Saving the environment just got easier. Local experts will offer visitors a variety of ways to turn their home into an energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly place to live in the Go Green exhibit at the Tulsa House Beautiful Show. Public Service Co. of Oklahoma will offer free compact fluorescent light bulbs to the first 250 people who come to the show each day.

• Humane Society of Tulsa — After a successful appearance last year, the Humane Society of Tulsa is back with a new attraction. With their new dog park feature and several endearing pets, they hope to win the hearts of visitors and find homes for some furry friends.

• Room Makeover Giveaway — Show attendees will have the opportunity to register to win a $10,000 cash card that can be used to spruce up their home or garden. Visitors can register once a day during show hours.

• Cooking with Clive — Making a first-time appearance at the Tulsa House Beautiful Show, author and world-class chef Clive Berkman has spent years perfecting the preparation of multiple course meals. At the show, he’ll show time-strapped visitors how simple gourmet taste can be by preparing a four-course meal in 30 minutes.
