Area man inducted into educators hall of fame

Harold C. Aldridge Sr. was inducted into the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame at a ceremony and banquet on Sept. 28  at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

Aldridge has 37 years in education. He was a classroom teacher for 15 years, coached for 19 years, vocational technical coordinator for 15 years and principal for seven years. His areas of teaching were in math and industrial arts.

Although his education career was noteworthy, he garnered an impressive coaching record where he won numerous district and regional tournaments, and four state championships, He was inducted into the Oklahoma Coaches Hall of Fame in 1981 and in 1995 into Langston University’s first Athletic Hall of Fame.

He is a life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Starlight Lodge #89 and Flipper Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Taft. He and his late wife, Captoria Wells Aldridge, have three children, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
