FG’s Trinity Family Church schedules open house Sept. 16

Activities part of national Back to Church Sunday

— FORT GIBSON — Back to Church Sunday, part of a national movement of churches across America, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 16 at Trinity Family Worship.

The church also will have an open house at 6 p.m. Sept. 16. This will allow newcomers and individuals who are interested in obtaining more information about the church to meet its ministry leaders and tour the building.

National Back to Church Sunday (www.backto

church.com) is an initiative that is “Inviting America Back to Church,” according to a media release. It seeks to reach the “un-churched” and “de-churched" — people who once attended church, but don’t any more — and invite them to return.

Back to Church Sunday was launched four years ago in response to a survey of 15,000 adults in the United States. Results showed that a personal invitation from a family member would prompt 67 percent of Americans to visit a church, and 63 percent said an invitation from a friend or neighbor would cause them to attend a service.

Participants in National Back to Church Sunday have invited more than 5 million family members, friends, and neighbors to their churches, the media release states.

About 14,000 churches are expected to participate this year, inviting more than 2 million visitors.

Trinity Family Worship is a Pentecostal Church of God at 500 E. Poplar St. in Fort Gibson. Information: www.trinityfamilyworship.
