Green Country singer stars on CD



Tahlequah’s Becky Wright was elated when selected for Kent Jones Productions’ release of “Oklahoma Love Journey.” In it church soloists perform their favorite love songs and include the touching story behind each song, according to a media release.

The Green Country mother to 10 teaches music and drama. Her vocal career includes Nashville performances, touring 14 states in two months and collecting songwriting awards.

A soloist at Tahlequah’s Grace Baptist Church, Wright was selected as one of Oklahoma’s best church voices to sing popular music on the two-hour, two-CD set. A graduate of Northside Christian Academy in Tulsa and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, she is one of 14 in the state selected.

Wright’s “Cherish This Moment” tells of an evening when rocking her baby boy Nathan while frankly thinking she should be doing something else. Relating how God spoke to her at that moment, Wright captured regret and wisdom in her song. It appears on the all-star CD with an added bonus of her now older Nathan singing a supporting role.

“That anxious, late night rocking chair moment has been shared by many parents. Her struggle and resolution are real. The audience absolutely treasured her song and performance with the boy she wrote the song for,” said producer Kent Jones.

Jones hosts the live concert release.

“Stories like Becky’s made the CDs a journey through love and music across Oklahoma. It’s more than the music I started after. It captures your emotions for hours,” Jones said. “They are all unique and like with Becky’s moment, touched me.”
