If you love The Swon Brothers and are following the careers of the Muskogee natives, you need to clear your evening appointments for this one in.
Zach Swon and Friends are performing at Creek Nation Casino-Muscogee. Zach Swon said he and his band enjoy pleasing the crowd. His brother, Colton Swon, will not be performing with them today.
“We are going to play everything from Merle Haggard to Stevie Wonder,” said Swon, who got his start in music as a young child singing and playing instruments with his parents, Kelly and Tammy Swon, playing gospel music.
Jermaine Mondaine, the saxophone player for Zach Swon and Friends, said he likes the direction of the band is going.
“We are doing very well,” Mondaine said. “It’s really exciting to see what all is being scheduled.”
Mondaine won’t be making an appearance at the Creek Nation Casino show.
“Zach is very talented,” Mondaine said. “Every time he’s on stage, it’s smooth.”
Shilah Jerkins, marketing manager for Creek Nation Casino- Muscogee, is thrilled to have Swon perform at the casino.
“It’s going to be a great show,” she said. “Zach is an incredible artist and we are glad to have him.”
But the gig at the casino is not the last place to hear Swon.
He and his band have a full calendar scheduled for the end of the year including a show at the Muskogee County Fair from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2.
“Our October is very busy,” Mondaine said. “We are doing the show with All American Rejects for the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.”
Swon said he is excited about playing the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame induction concert with the All-American Rejects Oct. 8.
“The All-American Rejects are hot right now,” he said. “I think they will draw a younger crowd.”
Swon said he thinks the show will help a new generation appreciate music as a whole.
“I think it will attract a lot of people to Muskogee,” he said.
