Parkview holds land run reenactment

Oklahoma School for the Blind held a 1889 Land Rush reenactment in Civitan Park. Monty Harper, Oklahoma Children’s singer and song writer came and performed his “CenTUNEial Show” and this was sponsored by the Muskogee Civitan Club.

The Park Hill Home and Community Educators sewed authentic “prairie bonnets.” Students and faculty were dressed in period costumes for the event.

A juried covered wagon competition was held. Judges for the competition were Sen. Earl Garrison, Commissioner Ray Kirk, Mayor Wren Stratton, Rep. George Faught and Rep. Jerry McPeak. Cash prizes were awarded to all 10 wagon entries.

Terriortial Marshals re-enacted a gunfight, and were interview by students. The PTO demonstrated hand-cranked ice cream and fed all participants vanilla ice cream.
