Deans Chapel Baptist Church of Muskogee is celebrating Donald E. Dumas’ 30th year as the church’s pastor. Dumas’ leadership began in 1982. He is the president of the Collate District and the president of the Oklahoma Baptist State Congress of Christian Education. One of the senior pastors of the Muskogee community, he recently received a special award from the Christian Ministers Alliance in memory of Dr. L.K. Jordan and Dr T.O. Chappelle.
His wife, Patty, is involved with the church’s Women’s Mission and the Ministers Wives Alliance.
The Dumases have three children, Lanesha Anderson(Whitney), Dawn Ebony and Dominica Dumas, and two grandchildren, Ameenah and Alyssa Anderson.
A Celebration Gala is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. today at Muskogee Civic Assembly Center Rooms C&D. Tickets are $20 each or $35 for a couple.
An anniversary service is scheduled for 11 a.m. service Sunday at the church, at 20th and Maryland streets. Dr. Leroy Cole of Tulsa’s Mount Zion Baptist Church,will be the guest speaker.
