Happy birthday, Pearl

— Photo submitted by Velma Haynes

Pearl Chilcoat, 102, and the Rev. Jeff Mann at the Feb. 10 service at Eastern Heights Baptist Church. Pearl is a longtime member of Eastern Heights, and it was the first service she had attended in years. Chilcoat was one of the first residents at Dogwood Creek Retirement Center. She was presented a corsage and a bouquet of flowers during the service in honor of her Feb. 11 birthday. The congregation sang “Happy Birthday” to Pearl. People lined up to shake her hand and wish Pearl a happy birthday after the service.
