Free Appraisal Fair highlights Sept. 18 Vintage Tulsa Show

— TULSA — Those attending the Vintage Tulsa Show will get the opportunity to have their treasures evaluated at a Free Appraisal Fair being held in conjunction with the show on Sept. 18.

Estate Sales by Allen is sponsoring the event, which features a panel of eight appraisers ready to give a complimentary verbal estimate of value to each attendee of the Vintage Tulsa Show that day.

Allen Hynes and Bruce Orr are the fair’s featured appraisers. Hynes, owner of Estate Sales by Allen, has been a fixture in Oklahoma’s antique community for 35 years. He prides himself on knowing book prices as well as fair-market value on most items he comes across.

Orr of Chicago, Ill., is considered a leading expert in art glass evaluation. He presently catalogs art glass and pottery for Early’s Auction of Ohio and Jackson’s Auction Houses of Indiana. Orr is also a consultant to Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and Dallas Auction Gallery, and is co-owner of Oklahoma Auction Gallery.

No appointment is necessary to have an item evaluated. Each attendee will receive a ticket upon entry allowing them access to the appraisal panel when their ticket number is called. While they await their turn with the panel, show-goers can shop the 35,000-square-foot arena filled with vintage merchandise from the 1800s to the 1970s, brought in by dealers from across the Midwest.

Those attending can expect to find antique furniture, primitives, militaria, vintage advertising, books, fine art, linens, glassware, pottery, china, jewelry, toys, tools, clothing and more. Peggy Van Witt, fine art conservator of Kansas City, Mo., also will be on hand for consultation.

The Vintage Tulsa Show is at the SpiritBank Event Center, located in Regal Plaza at 105th and Memorial streets, in Tulsa. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 18 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 19. The Appraisal Fair is Sept. 18 only. Admission is $5 for both days. Children are admitted free. Parking is free. Regal Plaza is host to several restaurants and on-site hotel accommodations are available.
