Tap group wins awards

— The tap group known as We Got The Beat competed at Talent On Parade Competition Regional Finals at Rose State College in Oklahoma City in March. At that competition, the four-member group received the following awards:

• Elite top first place in the 10/11-year-old tap category.

• Second place in the overall high points award in the Junior Small Group age division.

The group qualified for the National Finals, which were in June at the Tulsa Convention Center. More than 1,500 acts competed.

At the national finals, the group won:

• A top first place trophy in the10/11-year-old Small Group Tap category.

• Ninth place “Overall” High Points Award in the Junior Age Division.

• The “Brighter Than The Sun” Special Judges Choice Award.

The group is taught and choreographed by Lisa Logan, the owner and director of Show Biz Dance Studio in Muskogee.
